Guided Tour of the Czech Radio Building.

In the gap left by the former Jesuit monastery on Beethoven Street, the Brno branch of the Czech Union Bank was built between 1921 and 1925, designed by Ernst Wiesner. This is one of the first examples of functionalism in Moravia. The vertical mass of the street facade, emphasized by the continuous staircase window, is an equal partner to the massive tower of the adjacent Jesuit church, which it visually connects to with a prominent travertine two-story plinth. Just like the building of the Moravian Provincial Life Insurance Company on Mozart Street, which forms a single unit with it, this building also pays attention to a representative effect, detailed workmanship, and the selection of quality materials. Since 1950, the building has been used by Czech Radio and has recently undergone a complete reconstruction.
