Gerulata Community Picnic

Join us for an exciting day full of food, fun activities, and history on this unique UNESCO site of the Ancient Gerulata. Under the slogan "Let's Make Gerulata Green Together!", we'll set out to make this unique place even nicer for everyone, ensuring everyone is rewarded afterward. Families with children, as well as our dear neighbors and visitors of the Bratislava City Museum, will find plenty to enjoy thanks to our rich program. Entry to the Ancient Gerulata site is free throughout the season! This year, we've prepared new comfortable benches and chairs for you to not only explore fascinating ancient discoveries but also discover a new favorite spot to relax. This project was made possible with the support of the VÚB Foundation.

What can you look forward to?

Interactive games and activities for children: Enjoy playing traditional Roman games, make jewelry, or try your hand at archaeological work. Following the prepared plan, parents and kids can join in as garden architects to beautify the area with oleander, olive trees, and other Roman plants. Guided tours: Join us on an archaeological walk, birdwatching, or discover intriguing new facts about the Danube River. Volunteer activities and workshops: Active participants will assist in monument cleaning, plant transplantation, and co-creating programs for the upcoming summer season. Picnic with food and music: We'll reward ourselves with delightful refreshments accompanied by live musical performances.

Don’t forget to bring:

• sunscreen and head cover for sun protection,
• comfortable clothing, and shoes,
• good mood.

Schedule:

• 10:00 AM: Gates open
• 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Interactive games for children
• 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Birdwatching in Rusovský Park
• 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Archaeological walk
• 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Plant transplantation workshop for families
• 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Lecture on the Danube River and its significance to the area
• 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Picnic and musical performance
