About Patriarchy
Patriarchy penetrates themes of sex, power, subversion and death, intensely exploring Greek mythology and '80s slashers, dressing them in a nightmarish dreaminess straight out of Mulholland Drive and translating them into a sound that evokes both ABBA and Nine Inch Nails. Led by well-known figure of the darker corners of Californian art and eternal provocateur Actually Huizenga, Patriarchy now performs as a sexily vampiric trio, with the Drummer and the Guitarist.
Patriarchy debuted in 2019 with the album Asking For It. Songs from this release were remixed by Huizenga's friends, including Drab Majesty, Geneva Jacuzzi, ADULT. and Light Asylum. Its followup, The Unself, was released in 2022.
