The Od-Jazd film club invites you to meet one of the most interesting auteurs in contemporary cinema, Jim Jarmusch in one of his most ambiguous and discussion-inspiring films.

Bus driver Paterson leads a quiet life at the side of his wife Laura. The daily routine that marks the rhythm of his day includes walks with his dog, an evening pint of beer in the bar and, above all, the poetry Paterson creates, inspired by the elements of everyday life. *Will the stoic serenity that characterises the protagonist survive every development, even the most surprising?

Although Paterson has been hailed as a monument to the everyday that allows us to see poetry in the small elements of the world around us, some attentive viewers have noticed tones in the film that are quite different from the mindfulness that is fashionable today. Called the poet of boredom, Jarmusch proves once again that what is seemingly ordinary and repetitive can turn out to be the starting point for a non-obvious and in-depth analysis of the contemporary human condition.

What is everyday routine for Paterson? How can we interpret the film's ending? What elements characteristic of Jarmusch's work can we notice in 'Paterson'? These and many other questions will be answered by guests together with club expert Sebastian Smolinski. During the discussion, it will be possible to ask questions and share their ideas on the interpretation of the film.

Paterson is a city bus driver. He doesn't lack for anything. He loves his wife, who is full of crazy ideas and every day creates a new plan for the future. He has time for his passion (writing poetry), walks with his dog and meets a group of friendly eccentrics. Among them is a pint-hopping companion who is in love, a liberated single woman who sits in a bar in the evenings and a complaining colleague who envies Paterson's cheerfulness. However, due to a funny coincidence, the stoic composure of the title character is put to the test.
