The Dead Don't Hurt

1860s, San Francisco. The free-spirited Vivienne (Vicky Krieps) falls in love with the taciturn carpenter Holger (Viggo Mortensen). With him by her side, she ventures through the picturesque landscape of Nevada's canyons and forests to find her dream home. He settles in a small, seemingly peaceful town that is controlled by a corrupt mayor and his associates. When Holger leaves to fight in the Civil War, Vivienne is left alone to face the rigors of a harsh environment, with the mayor's despotic son Weston in particular bringing chaos.
