Alcest will perform at the Roxy club in Prague on November 21. Svalbard and Doodseskader will perform as support.
Alcest is a French post-black metal band from Bagnols-sur-Cèze – a musical project that gave birth to the genre of "blackgaze" – a mixture of post-black metal, post-rock and shoegaze. Founded in 2000 by Niege (Stéphane Paut) and joined by Winterhalter (Jean Deflandre) in 2009, the "dreamy" music of the band has inspired many others since its inception, such as Deafheaven and Harakiri For the Sky. Alcest have announced the release of a new album, Les Chants de l'Aurore (Songs of the Dawn), (2024) which comes after 2019's darker Spiritual Instinct.
Svalbard, a quartet from Bristol, revel in hard-hitting and brutally honest music on record and on stage. Their unique blend of euphoric black metal, post-rock and d-beat incorporates surprising influences - from soft, mournful vocals to progressive guitar lines. They gained worldwide recognition with their third album When I Die, Will I Get Better? in 2020, cementing their position in the underground scene. While their previous album dealt with confronting their own demons, their new album The Weight of the Mask (2023) confronts them.
Doodseskader, a dynamic collaboration between Tim De Gieter (Amenra, Much Luv Studio) and Sigfried Burroughs (Kapitan Korsakov, Paard), who have broken down genre boundaries with their unique blend of grunge sludge, hip-hop hardcore and relentless rap. Their debut album Year One (2022) and singles like FLF (2023) and Still Haven't Killed Myself (2022) showcase their fearless exploration of new sonic possibilities.
