American musician Kim Gordon will come to Prague. She will perform at MeetFactory on 2 July. British duo Lambrini Girls will perform as support.

Over 10 years have passed since the release of The Eternal, Sonic Youth's final album, and the subsequent breakup of one of the most distinctive, visceral and formative bands of the past few decades. Kim Gordon reflects on this period, which started in the early 80s when she formed the band along with Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo, in her bestselling title Girl in a Band, closing the book (as well as a fundamental chapter of her life) with a statement. "I know, it sounds like I'm someone else entirely now, and I guess I am."

The break–up of the cult band (preceded by the break–up of Gordon's and Moore's marriage) gave her the space to pursue writing, film and, above all, her visual art endeavours and experimental noise projects Body/Head a Glitterbust. Then in 2019, Gordon's first ever solo album No Home Record comes out of the blue, a vibrant album full of hefty, corrosive beats, noisy textures, dissonant guitars and fragmented lyrics, inspired by no wave, 90s hip hop, footwork, free jazz and contemporary avant-garde electronics.

This year, Kim Gordon follows up with a sophomore record, The Collective, out March 8 on Matador. "On this record, I wanted to express the absolute craziness I feel around me right now," she sums up, taking the record on tour around Europe soon, stopping at MeetFactory on July 2nd.

Based in Brighton, Lambrini Girls are Phoebe Lunny and Lilly Macieira who have a strong artistic bond over their creative common ground – hot button societal issues combined with a biting, tongue-in-cheek lyrical style all their own.

Their new single God's Country is a thunderous punk anthem boldly confronting Britain's far-right surge. Produced with Gilla Band's Daniel Fox, it merges raw power with sharp social critique. Lauded by BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, NME, featured on a Kerrang! cover with Sleater-Kinney and nominated for a Rolling Stone UK Award, they played over 100 shows and major festivals in 2023, including dates with Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Gilla Band, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs and Iggy Pop.

The band have dozens of shows already in the diary for 2024 including festivals across UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland and the USA, and their headline shows now sell out weeks and if not months in advance. This track challenges the notion of 'Great' Britain, whilst marking Lambrini Girls as fearless, influential disruptors in music. The band's debut album in the works, for release in early 2025.
