Decarbonisation as a path to a sustainable future.

The Green Buildings 2024 conference will focus on the key topic of decarbonisation and its crucial role in meeting the commitment to a zero carbon footprint in Europe by 2050 as set out in the Paris Agreement. The conference will showcase the opportunities that decarbonisation offers, not only with regard to the environment, but also as a catalyst for significant business development. The aim is to offer participants inspiration and present concrete examples of sustainable solutions that are shaping the future.

Programme:
The program is structured around various industry segments' perspectives on decarbonisation, featuring five thematic blocks and three keynote speeches.

Keynote Speakers:

  • Vicente Guallart: Renowned architect, known for his work in the field of green urban and building projects, especially for his work as former Chief Architect of Barcelona.
  • Ana Cunha: Strategic Sustainability Advisor at Deerns Group, who will present innovative engineering designs and sustainability examples from major projects such as Bosco Verticale, Triodos Bank Headquarters and Maison de l'Île-de-France.
  • Andrew Waugh: Founding principal of Waugh Thistleton Architects, who shares over 20 years of expertise in building design with an emphasis on renewable, natural materials.

Overview of thematic sessions:

  • Development/Design: Exploring the role of design in sustainable projects and the collaborative approach required for successful implementation.
  • Materials/Circularity: Emphasizing the importance of circularity principles and bio-based materials in preserving resources and reducing carbon footprints.
  • Technology/Environment: Demonstrating technology's role in reducing carbon footprints while ensuring superior internal environments.
  • Finance/ESG: Addressing the impact of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) factors on real estate financing and reporting.
  • Decarbonisation Roadmap: Introducing the Czech Green Building Council's roadmap, offering insights and recommendations for achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Panel Discussions – Each thematic block includes moderated panel discussions featuring representatives from the private and public sectors. The debates are moderated by Michala Hergetová.

Panelists – Distinguished panellists include industry leaders and experts such as Pascal Eveillard (Saint-Gobain Group), Petr Palička (Penta Real Estate), Eva Nykodymová (Skanska), Michal Petřík (Buildsys, a.s.), Jon Hale (Chapman Tayor), Petr Hejduk (Daikin) and many more. Participation of representatives of relevant ministries is being negotiated.
