A presentation of a film and drawings by artist Lore Smolders that were created during her three-month residency at U-jazdowski Castle.

Since the beginning of her residency at U-jazdowski Castle, Lore Smolders has used drawing as a tool for communication. Inspired by the drawings used in treatment or therapy, and questioning her role as observer/resident of the Castle, the artist has taken an interest in both the physical and emotional space experienced by the U-jazdowski staff. In her works, she touches upon themes of hierarchy, misunderstanding, polarisation, reflexology, stress and observing, attempting to combine the personal and the political. Through schematic drawings, he tells stories in which the building becomes the body and boundary spaces are symbols of expectation. The work is a collaboration with Marek Sokołowski (PL, camera), Alan Van Rompuy (BE/CH, sound), Marcin Liminowicz (PL, camera, editing).

The event will take place in the Cistern, a 19th century cellar located in the outer courtyard of the Ujazdowski Castle. The Cistern can only hold a limited number of people at a time.

Lore Smolders (Belgium, born 1987) is a visual artist working with drawing, language, publications, objects and installations.
