The Tunelanders is a Basel-based project of a group of five alumni of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, led by harpsichordist and organist Joan Boronat Sanz, which is dedicated to the exploration of traditional Irish and Scottish tunes, Baroque chamber music – and the links between them. The ensemble members are all active in the field of historically informed performance and seek to re-imagine the music scene as it may have been in the pubs and music-halls of Dublin in the 18th century, where folk music would often meet the works of Baroque composers such as Handel and Corelli, in the same venue, during the same event – and even played by the same musicians.
