The installation celebrating the 40th anniversary of FAMUFEST was created by a team lead by Tereza Czesany Dvořáková. Helping her were students of the Department of Film Studies at the Charles University Faculty of Arts in collaboration with the FAMUFEST production team. The aim of the research was to understand a specific type of (not only) the student festival as a phenomenon and examine it in depth, starting with the organization team, whose members change almost every passing year, to particular festival solutions, decisions, places, collaborations etc. The exhibition presents a complex, though not complete image of FAMUFEST (erstwhile also called SUOČ or Festival FAMU in Czech) throughout time, as influenced by the strengths of the neural memory nets of our sources.
The event will take place in the premises of the Holešovická šachta near the centre of the festival – the Bio Oko Cinema. The exhibition will open on 7 March with an opening ceremony, during which a debate with guests about the history and the present of the festival will take place, followed by a musical programme. The exhibition will also be open on the following day, 8 March.
